The Seeing Place, a bold and innovative theatre company co-founded by visionary sound designer Marlene Radice and theatre director and applied theatre practitioner Sammy Moynihan.
Our name, inspired by the origins of theatre itself, comes from the Ancient Greek term that means "Place of Seeing." This embodies the essence of what we strive to achieve: a dynamic space where audiences can truly see and experience the world through powerful, political performances.
Inspired by Augusto Boal’s revolutionary idea that theatre is the art of looking at ourselves, we are committed to creating work that challenges, enlightens, and engages. Our productions are crafted with the intent to provoke thought, inspire dialogue, and bring about meaningful change in society. At The Seeing Place, inclusivity and accessibility are at the heart of our mission.
We believe that theatre should be a shared experience for all, and we strive to ensure our work is welcoming to everyone, regardless of their abilities. Our name reflects a metaphorical place of insight and understanding, not just a literal act of seeing.
Join us on a journey where the stage becomes a mirror to society, and where every performance is an opportunity to reflect, question, and envision a better world. Together, let’s explore the powerful stories that shape our lives and the world around us.
